HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- A class at a Hanover County elementary school will be taught online for the next two weeks after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

The infected teacher works at Kersey Creek Elementary School and "only had close contact to her students," according to the school.

"Upon investigation, Hanover Health Department officials determined that the teacher’s exposure was confined to her classroom. As a result, the Hanover Health Department indicated that there is no risk to any other students or staff members outside of the impacted classroom," Mullens said.

The school's custodial staff has completed extra cleaning to sanitize the impacted classroom and all other in-person classes will continue.

Families of students in the affected classroom have already been contacted. More information about Hanover County Public Schools' Health plan can be found here.
