RICHMOND, Va. -- Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School was placed on lockdown on Tuesday morning after a parent reported seeing someone with a gun outside the school.
No gun was located.
"The school went on lockdown and [Richmond Police] assisted with searching for the student and weapon in question and no weapon was found," a Richmond Schools spokesperson wrote in an email. "The school lockdown is close to being ended, we will share an update with parents, and the school day will proceed normally."
MLK Middle School is located at 1000 Mosby Street in Richmond.
