GREENSVILLE COUNTY. Va. – A quiet Greensville County community is shocked after a dead body was found in a ditch Thursday afternoon.

A couple driving along Rolling Acres Road spotted what they believed to be a body at approximately 4:30 p.m. Greensville County sheriff's deputies arrived to find a male victim shot to death.

"It's kind of scary to just be in the area and just to see something so close to you happen," said Katrina Hardy, who lives nearby.

"This is like a shock to me, you know,” said neighbor Alvin Walker.

Investigators were back on scene Friday Morning, looking for clues and collecting evidence.

"This is a very quiet portion of the county; we hardly ever have any calls for service out here," said Detective Chris Rook.

The Greensville County Sheriff's Office is asking for the community’s help to solve the murder and identify the victim.

"You didn't see anything suspicious yesterday, did you? Any vehicles parked? Anything going on?" Rook asked a driver passing through Rolling Acres Road.

For those who live nearby like Katrina Hardy, the murder is too close.

"It's Scary. It's very Scary, very Scary," said Hardy.

Investigators say the victim is described as a young black male with a small stature, facial hair, and numerous tattoos on his face and body.

He was wearing camo pants, a blue Adidas zip up jacket with a white band around the waist, and green and black Nike boots.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Greensville County Crime Line at 434-634-1111.
