PETERSBURG, Va. -- A death investigation is underway after two people were found dead in Petersburg's Centre Hill Historic District Monday afternoon.
Police responded to a double shooting in the 200 block of Henry Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man and woman suffering woman a gunshot wound.
Crime Insider sources tell Jon Burkett that police believe the incident was a domestic situation that turned into a murder-suicide.
Those sources also said the man and woman are from the Richmond area. The Chief of Police would not confirm that, but did say they did not live at the location.
Police say there is no threat to the public.
