CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A family who made a quick stop in Chesterfield County to visit relatives while driving south to Florida hopes the person who broke into their car sees this story.
That's because the thief stole several items, including an urn that contained the ashes of a stillborn girl named Julianne Hope Kaufman.
"It's heartbreaking for all of us," Julianne's mother Brandy Kaufman said. "All of us are deeply hurt by this."
The stolen urn is shaped like a pillar with a pewter Angel praying on the front.
Julianne's name is also inscribed on the box, along with a Helen Keller quote.
The Kaufman family is now offering a $1,000 reward for its return.
"[We hope] this message will get out and somebody, if they find them or if the person still has them that took it, that they'll return it," Kaufman said.
