Man arrested in Hopewell murder

HOPEWELL, Va. -- Police have made an arrest in a shooting in Hopewell Thursday night that killed a Petersburg man.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Edward Bland Court for the shooting just before 9:30 p.m.

When police arrived, officers found 32-year-old Marcus Parker inside a home suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Parker was transported to an area hospital where he died.

Hopewell Police said 30-year-old Daemon Dashawn Clarke, of Petersburg, was arrested without incident Saturday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Clarke is facing charges of first-degree murder, possession of firearm by felon and use of a firearm while committing a felony.
