HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A man who was beaten, tied up, and put into the trunk of a car escaped out of the moving vehicle, according to Crime Insider sources.
The vehicle was headed eastbound on Williamsburg Road in Henrico Friday afternoon.
Witnesses said they could hear the man calling for help.
"He was in the trunk and sitting up as he went by the motel, and hollering, ‘Help me help me help me!'" Michael Frye, who lives nearby, said.
The man managed to escape out of the trunk of the car and onto the side of the road near Airport Drive and Williamsburg Road, according to Crime Insider sources.
"I guess by the time he got to the red light, I saw an ambulance, police, and fire heading that way," said Frye.
When the man hit the ground, he frantically made his way up and screamed for help, as he stumbled down the side of the road, sources said.
An officer saw the zip ties and markings and realized it wasn't a prank.
Multiple sources added that the man abducted from the trunk of the car is the same man who was shot at during an attempted robbery at the 7-Eleven last Monday.
The incident is still under investigation.
