Man critically injured in Petersburg triple shooting had 'multiple gunshot wounds'

PETERSBURG, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting that left three people wounded in a Petersburg neighborhood Sunday night.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Van Dorn Street for the report a person shot just after 8:15 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.

The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers said two other gunshot victims "arrived for treatment" at an area hospital. They had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

"We are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation is being conducted," police said.
