RICHMOND, Va. -- One man is dead and another man is injured after a double shooting in South Richmond Wednesday, multiple Crime Insider sources tell Jon Burkett.

Those sources say shots rang out just before noon during a drive-by shooting on Halifax Avenue near Jefferson Davis Highway.

Crime insider sources say two men were shot near a playground area in the area.

One man has been pronounced dead and the second man has been transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Sources say houses and cars were also hit during the shooting.

Crime Insider Jon Burkett reports shell casings littered the street and there were at least 37 evidence markers on Halifax street.

Investigators tell Burkett that they believe that people were outside during the shooting, yet the neighbors say they didn't see anything.

The fatal shooting brings the total to 24 shootings and 11 homicides over the course of 18 days in the City of Richmond.

If you have information that could help detectives, call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000 or submit a tip online at http://www.7801000.com. The P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app for smartphones may also be used. All three Crime Stoppers methods of contact are anonymous.
