NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. -- A Crewe man was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Nottoway County.

Virginia State Police responded to a crash on Route 460 just west of Route 607 (Rocky Ford Road) at 12:55 a.m.

Police say a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east on Route 460 when it ran off the left side of the road and into the median.

Following the crash, the driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old David W. Williams, was struck by a vehicle while walking east on Route 460.

Investigators say Williams was walking on the right side of the road, not far from the original crash site, when he was struck by another vehicle traveling east on Route 460. The vehicle did not stop at the crash scene.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police say they have identified the hit-and-run vehicle and charges are pending as the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators say it was raining heavily at the time of both crashes.

Virginia State Police is still asking anyone with information regarding either crash to call the State Police Area 7 Office at (804) 733-8219.
