CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- After an ice storm postponed vaccination events scheduled on February 18, 19, and 20, the Chesterfield Health District (CHD) is now adjusting second dose vaccination clinics originally scheduled during the week of February 22.

Health officials say the week of February 22 will now be used to accommodate those individuals whose appointments were postponed due to inclement weather.

Those who were scheduled to get a second dose of the vaccine next week will be contacted by health district staff during the week of March 1 to be scheduled for a vaccination appointment that same week.

"Extending second dose appointments by one week beyond the suggested dosing timeframe (three weeks for Pfizer, four weeks for Moderna) will not adversely affect either the safety or effectiveness of the vaccine," CHD spokesperson Brookie Crawford wrote in an email.

Officials are reminding individuals to check their email and answer their phones so they do not miss a chance to reschedule their appointment for the second dose of the vaccine.
