CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield County Police have postponed its annual National Night Out celebration due to COVID-19 concerns.

National Night Out is typically celebrated on the first Tuesday in August.

This year's celebration has been rescheduled to October 6, 2020.

National Night Out is designed to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie with the goal of making our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Chesterfield County Police will host a free National Night Out Kick-Off event on September 19. The event will be held at the Westchester Commons Shopping Center from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The event will feature live entertainment and vendors from a variety of public safety and community service agencies.

The Chesterfield Food Bank will also collect donations at the event.
