RICHMOND, Va. -- Winter is right around the corner and soon there will be a demand for winter coats, especially for children.
CBS 6 and The Richmond Flying Squirrels teamed up with Puritan Cleaners for the annual Coats for Kids Drive.
The kick-off Ballpark Warming Party had a slight twist this year. The party, usually held at the Diamond, was a drive-thru at Puritan Cleaners at Willow Lawn.
Community Relations Specialist Sara Moncrieff and her son, Evan, were looking forward to the party.
“So we’re super excited, the ballpark warming party has been going on for 12 years, and even though COVID kind of changed things up for us a little bit, we’re really excited it be hosting it at our Staples Mill location this Saturday," Moncrieff said. "I’m actually here with my son Evan, we are going through his closet looking for some coats to donate ad get things ready, it’s a family affair around here."
Coats will be dry cleaned and distributed during the holidays.
If you missed the Ballpark Warming Party at 1807 Staples Mill Road, you can donate a gently used or new coat at any of the Puritan Cleaners 14 locations or call 804-355-5726.
