SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. -- A 14-year-old girl was killed and four other people suffered life-threatening injuries when a wrong-way driver crashed into the vehicle that they were riding in, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash was reported Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 2:55 a.m. along Interstate 95 at the 124 mile-marker in Spotsylvania County.
"A 2021 Toyota Sequoia entered Interstate 95 traveling in the wrong direction and collided head-on with a Southbound 2020 GMC Yukon. The impact caused the GMC to overturn," a Virginia State Police spokesperson wrote in an email.
The Toyota Sequoia driver, who police identified as 27-year-old Taylor M. Andujar, of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and other related crimes. She suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to police.
The driver of the GMC, who police identified as a 61-year-old man from New York, suffered more serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
