HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Henrico Police identified a man killed on West Broad Street as Melvin Burrell Jr.
Burrell Jr., 47, was killed walking along the shoulder of West Broad Street, near Deep Run Avenue, on Wednesday night when he was hit by a car, according to police.
"The preliminary information indicates a Honda Accord was traveling west on Broad Street. [Burrell Jr] entered the road from the right shoulder when the crash occurred," a Henrico Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "The driver immediately stopped, called 9-1-1, and is working closely with Crash Team Detectives."
The crash was reported at about 9:21 p.m.
