NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. -- A likely tornado knocked down trees and knocked out power in the Northern Neck on Monday.

It damaged at least two homes in Northumberland County, according to county officials.

Neighbors reported seeing a funnel cloud at about 3:20 p.m.

The Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reported, "significant damage" to power lines.

"There is an outage in the area of Lottsburg on Lewisetta Rd. with over 700 members affected," the co-op posted on Facebook. "It will take time to make the necessary repairs."

While no tornado watch nor warning was issued for the area, the reported damage is consistent with damage caused by a tornado. The National Weather Service will investigate on Tuesday.
