RICHMOND, Va. -- As the crowd cheered, seniors from George Wythe High School prepared to take the stage at the Diamond in Richmond.
Anaya White was one of nearly 180 seniors who graduated Wednesday morning.
It was a moment she had waited for following a year and a half of virtual learning due to the pandemic.
"You really had to be independent and take the lead and grind for your opportunity to graduate," White said.
White's mother also reflected on the moment.
"To be able to persevere and stay resilient and just push forward, we’re proud of her, very proud of her," she said.
Three other Richmond schools will hold graduation ceremonies at the Diamond on Wednesday.
