Infant, woman unharmed in shooting that killed Chesterfield man

RICHMOND, Va. -- Davvion "Deezy" Graham was shot and killed Thursday in Richmond at a home along the 900 block of 26th Street.

A woman and infant in the home at the time were not injured in the shooting which was reported at about 6:30 p.m.

Graham, a 27-year-man from Chesterfield, was a rapper with a soft spot for his family and fatherhood, according to his friends.

"Over 20 some years of a friendship through music, him rapping and so on, I'm like a mother to him and it hurts," Sharon Hooper, whose sons were like brothers to Graham, said. "It's sad how people go away from here. It's sad."

Detectives have video of a man running from the Church Hill crime scene, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

"Whoever the person is that did this shooting. just turn yourself in and give it up," Hooper said. "For the family's sake and child's sake. Just do it."

Graham was one of three people shot in Richmond Thursday night.

He was the only fatality.

His death has not yet been included in the city's homicide count which sits at 52 (as of Sept. 5), according to Richmond Police.

Since 2000, Richmond has averaged approximately 60 homicides a year.

Between 2002-2005, more than 80 people a year were killed in crimes classified as homicides in the city. Over the last two years, more than 60 people were killed in crimes classified as homicides, according to Richmond Crime statistics.
