Chesterfield driver killed in weekend crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield Police identified the driver killed in a crash on North Courthouse Road on Saturday as 25-year-old Carlos Pereira III.

"[Pereira] was driving a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo north on Courthouse Road when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "At this point, the investigation indicates Pereira was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash."

The crash was reported at about 10:05 p.m. along the 600 block of North Courthouse Road, not far from Midlothian Turnpike, on June 26.
