4 arrested, firearm recovered after fight at Hopewell Wawa

HOPEWELL, Va. – Four people have been arrested and a rifle has been recovered after a fight in the parking lot of a Hopewell Wawa convenience store Wednesday afternoon.

Police say detectives were at the Wawa located at 907 Colonial Corner when they observed a physical altercation in the parking lot at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Investigators say detectives observed a man, identified as 20-year-old Shamone Parham, retrieving an AK-47 style rifle from a vehicle and approach others fighting in a crowd near the gas pumps.

“Detectives were able to act quickly and arrest Mr. Parham with no injures to the public or our officers,” said Detective Lieutenant Michael Langford.

The firearm was also recovered.

Parham, of Dinwiddie County, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Demetrius Leshawn Russell, 25, of Hopewell, was arrested for disorderly conduct and two outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court in Hopewell and Chesterfield County.

Julia E Phillips, 35, of Hopewell and 20-year-old Darius Miles Jr., of Hopewell, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
