CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Two people have been displaced after a lightning strike sparked a Chesterfield County house fire on Wednesday afternoon.
Chesterfield Fire responded to the home in the 4600 block of Shoremeade Court for a possible lightening strike at 3:24 p.m.
When the first units arrived on scene at 3:30 p.m., they saw smoke coming from the attic and roof of the building.
Firefighters marked the fire under control at 4:09 p.m.
Fire officials have determined that a lightning strike hit the back side of the house.
There were no injuries in the fire but two adults were displaced. Fire officials say one cat has been recovered and another is still missing.
The displaced residents will be assisted by the Red Cross.
