FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- One person was killed in a crash early Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 on the Rappahannock River Bridge.

"The crash involves two tractor-trailers and a passenger vehicle," a Virginia State Police spokesperson wrote in an email."One of the tractor-trailers overturned onto its side. There is one confirmed fatality. The crash remains under investigation."

The crash was reported at 4 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, in the southbound lanes of I-95 at the Rappahannock River Bridge (mile marker 131) at the Fredericksburg - Stafford County line.

"A single lane has reopened on Interstate 95 southbound at the Rappahannock River Bridge," VDOT advised at 8:40 a.m. "Southbound motorists should expect delays near the scene of the multi-vehicle crash to continue, as crews work to remove a tractor-trailer from the shoulder. VDOT crews have treated the interstate with sand and salt prior to reopening travel lanes."

This is a developing story.
