CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Healthcare workers at UVA Medical Center received a warm welcome as they arrived to work Thursday morning.

Dozens of construction workers lined up on UVA Health's new wing and applauded and cheered for the workers as they arrived to work or left their shifts.

Crews also hung a sign saying “Thank You Health Care Heroes.”

The touching gesture captured the hearts of thousands after photos circulated on Facebook.

"I was there and it feels good to show gratitude to all those heroes," said Benito Murguia Rodriguez.

"This is so special. God bless each of you as my granddaughter is one of those on the front line," said Nancy Shifflett.

"So touching! I want to say thank you to construction crews and give them applause as well!!" said Jangmin Son.
