RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond church is committing to feeding hundreds of healthcare workers every week for the next three months.

The Way Church's "Compassion RVA" initiative plants to send out at least 400 meals a week to healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

By purchasing to-go lunches from local businesses and delivering them to area hospitals, emergency departments, and associated support agencies, the initiative hopes to show appreciation to essential medical workers.

"We currently have the ability to provide 400 meals a week. It's our hope to grow that into 400 meals a day and more," a press release said.

Anyone who would like to contribute to Compassion RVA can donate online.

"We need more restaurant partners, more hospitals to feed, and funds to pay for the meals," the release said.
