RICHMOND, Va. -- Quirk Hotel in Richmond has closed its doors as people are being urged to stay indoors and away from others in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

"As of today, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the Quirk Hotels services, restaurants, bars and galleries," the hotel posted on social media. "Our hearts are with our beloved Quirk Family who are impacted, and to all of those in the hospitality and service industries experiencing the same. We are dedicated to doing what we can to help our colleagues during this time."

Quirk managers posted while they had the desire to stay open, "there is a critical need for us to help fight a global health crisis and prioritize the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, guests and community."

Quirk Hotel opened on West Broad Street in 2015.
