RICHMOND, Va. -- A Virginia ABC store in downtown Richmond is closed until further notice after the roommate of an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Virginia ABC says the employee has not tested positive for the virus, nor has any other employees. The employee and the roommate are at home in quarantine.

Store 182, located at 1217 West Broad Street near the corner of West Broad and North Harrison streets, will be closed for an expected two weeks.

“During that time, the store will undergo a thorough deep cleaning and sanitization,” said an ABC spokesperson. “For the safety of our employees and customers, we have asked employees at this store to self-quarantine for two weeks.”

Customers will not be able to place online orders for pickup at the store during the closure.

Officials say future decisions related to ABC store operations will consider guidance from the Virginia Department of Health and Governor Northam’s office and will be implemented on a case-by-case basis.
