COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- A positive case of COVID-19 has been reported at Colonial Heights High School, school officials confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
In a message to families, school officials say they wanted to inform parents and guardians of the positive test, "out of an abundance of caution and transparency."
The positive case is the first reported case since students returned for in-person learning earlier this month.
"We are following the guidelines and safety protocols outlined by the Chesterfield Virginia Department of Health. After contact tracing has been completed impacted individuals with potential exposure will be notified with further guidance," school officials wrote on Facebook.
School officials did not specify whether a student or staff member tested positive.
