CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- The annual Carmax Tacky Light Run is back and reimagined so you can show off your holiday spirit in not one, but several different neighborhoods.

"Rather than hold it as a traditional one-day event where everyone gathers in one place at one time, we have come up with five courses around the region for people to go utilize over the course of Dec. 11 through 13," Sports Backers PR and Communications Manager at Sports Backers Pete Woody said.

Locations include Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and two courses in Chesterfield, so you can social distance in a neighborhood near you.

"It gives you more flexibility to choose the date and time and the location," Woody explained. "The courses are open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and to have fun and still carry on this Tacky holiday tradition in an active way that we support so much at Sports Backers."

The tradition of wearing tacky sweaters and other unusual holiday garb is strongly encouraged.

"That’s such a big part of the event that’s such a big part Carmax Tacky Light Run tradition is to dress up in lights and tacky sweaters," Woody said. "And the swag we’re giving out this year is a long-sleeve shirt... so merry and bright is definitely is the theme for this year."

You can also complete the courses virtually and kids can join their parents, so it is fun for the whole family.

Additionally, when you register this year, you will receive a discount on the registration for next year’s event. Register and get more information here: https://www.sportsbackers.org/
