Lucas said the event's goal remains true, amid changes because of the pandemic, to the founders and visionaries who created the Community Learning Week to inspire Virginians "to build community in your home, in your local block, your subdivision, in your local residence, in your community and in the state and in this Commonwealth."
Lucas said The Honorable L. Douglas Wilder, Del. Dolores McQueen, and the Rev. Dr. Patricia Gould Champ will be honored for their service.
"We’re excited about these individuals who we believe represent the ideals of Dr. King and are really a sign of the great work that we’re already engaged in to build this beloved community," Lucas said.
