HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- As part CBS 6 Gives, meteorologist Mike Stone surprises a licensed practical nurse at Westminster Canterbury Richmond Retirement Community.

Carrie Hall knew from a young age that she wanted to take care of the elderly.

"Starting with my grandmother," she said. "I went from that to volunteering at a geriatric community."

Stone presented Hall with a gift card as a way of thanking her for her hard work taking care of others during the pandemic.

"[The last year] has been trying, but they have been a way to kind of adapt to a new norm for sure," Hall said. "It changed a lot of processes and policies and the way that we took care of not only our residents but each other. I couldn't have done it without everyone else. I mean, I'm only one person. So many, not only the CNAs, the nurses, the housekeeping, dining, the management, the residents, and families. I mean, all of us coming together in such a trying time."
