RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond nonprofit organization is working to get local students geared up for virtual learning.

Chenice Johnson, founder of Just C, is fundraising to purchase desks for students in need.

CBS 6 reporter Shelby Brown wanted to chip in, so she surprised Johnson with a donation in the latest edition of CBS 6 Gives.

"She has no idea this is about to happen," said Brown.

"Chenice, thank you so much for Just C and for what you do. Channel 6, of course, we told everybody about your effort to raise money to give desk to students in need," said Brown. "In the last week or so, we just seen the community come together we want to be a part of that."

Brown presented Johnson with a gift card so she can purchase more desks for kids that need it when they go back to school virtually.

"We just ask you to pay it forward but we know you're already doing that. So we just salute you today," said Brown.
So far, Johnson says her organization has been able to provide desks for 176 students.

The organization has started a GoFundMe and is hoping community partners will donate that way or via Venmo, PayPal, Cash App or by sending in a check.

A donation of $310.00 can purchase nine desks. If you want to help, there are several ways. Through Venmo at $justC19 and through PayPal at: paypal.me/justCnonpr.
