CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- As part of the CBS 6 Month of Giving and with the help of Virginia Credit Union, Rob Cardwell surprised two local educators who have been helping students get access to books.
Meadowbrook High School librarian Kristen Thrower and Falling Creek Middle School reading specialist Lisa Signorelli read 'The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek' during a book club.
The main character delivered books to poor and isolated people who live in the Kentucky Mountains in the 1930s. Inspired by that determination, Thrower and Signorelli started their own bookmobile.
They’ve been collecting books and delivering them to needy children in the county.
CBS 6’s Rob Cardwell met them at a local apartment complex where they were handing out more books. This time, Rob handed out Visa gift cards to Thrower and Signorelli as a “thank you” for all they’ve done in the community.
