RICHMOND, Va. - Four people were shot and at least one person was killed outside a Shockoe Bottom restaurant early Christmas morning in Richmond.

Police were called to the Wing Bar, along the 1800 block of East Main Street, at about 12:50 a.m. on December 25.

The shooter, according to witnesses, was in line to get into the restaurant. When a security guard attempted to check the man for weapons, the man pulled out a gun, shot the guard, and fired rounds into the business.

One of the shooting victims was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two other shooting victims were hurt, but were expected to survive the shooting.

The victims include two men and two women, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

Those sources also said the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation inside the restaurant.

They indicated the shooter left the business and returned with the gun.

At this time, police have not released any information about the shooter.

"I couldn't imagine losing someone on a holiday," Paul Zelensky, who lives in the neighborhood, said. "Christmas obviously makes people think about love and kindness for your fellow man, but you would like everyone to sort be respectful of one another everyday."

This is a developing story. Witnesses can send news tips here.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
