RICHMOND, Va. - The sticky sweet treat you love to hate is back for its annual starring role in the Science Museum of Virginia’s quirky holiday tradition, Fruitcake Science! Join in the fun and help educators freeze it with liquid nitrogen, smash it to test its density and even set it on fire with a blowtorch! Those who are brave enough can even sample fruitcakes made with cricket flour. Yes, you heard that correctly – fruitcake made with crickets!! The Museum is baking with bugs in celebration of our upcoming touring exhibition, “Giant Insects”, which will be creepy-crawling to the Museum in January 2020. Fruitcake Science demonstrations happen throughout the day each day from December 26 – 30. A detailed schedule of daily activities and ticket pricing is available at www.smv.org/holidays.
