One person killed in shooting near Germanna College

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — One person was killed and a second person left in critical condition following a Monday night shooting in Spotsylvania County.

“Deputies and detectives [were called to] the 9900 block of Matti Hill Court in reference to a shooting that occurred just before 9 p.m.,” Spotsylvania Sheriff’s spokesperson said. ” Deputies arrived within one minute of the initial call and found an adult male deceased from gunshot wounds. A few minutes later, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center informed our 911 Center that an adult male arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.”

Investigators have not released information about the victims, nor any potential shooting suspects.

“There is no immediate threat to the community and the incident appears to be isolated,” the sheriff’s spokesperson said.

The shooting took place near the Germanna Community College campus. The school sent alerts to students and staff to alert the community about the situation.
