RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating after four women in the Fan and Museum District areas reported being sexually assaulted on the same day, potentially by the same man.

On Thursday, May 30, officers responded to the following areas for reports of sexual battery:

  1. 900 block of Tilden Street at 3:35 p.m.
  2. 3100 block of Monument Avenue at 3:38 p.m.
  3. 900 block of Roseneath Road at 4:00 p.m.
  4. 2700 block of Grove Avenue at 7:26 p.m.

All the victims are women, and including one juvenile. Sources tell CBS 6 the juvenile victim is a 13-year-old girl.

Each of them reported that an unknown male suspect approached, and then inappropriately touched her before leaving on foot. Each victim also provided a suspect description that police believe to be the same person.

One of the victims, who CBS 6 is not identifying to protect her identity, says she was walking her dog while listening to headphones near N. Mulberry Street and Grove Avenue.

The routine walk took a drastic turn for the young woman.

“He grabbed my right butt cheek. It wasn't like a smack... like it was a grab," she said. "Made me feel violated."

At that moment, the victim says she was angry.

"I turned around and I see him running across the Street and I froze," she added.

The victim says she did eventually chase the suspect but to no avail.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male with a dark tan and short cut black hair, between 5’ 8” to 6’ 0” tall, and between 35-40 years old, with a medium build.

Word of the sexual assaults quickly spread on the NextDoor app. Some said they will be more cautious during their walks.

"I feel safe with my dog during the day but sometimes, I'm walking home at night without her. So, it's a good reminder to always assume that somebody is watching,” said one neighbor.

Anyone with information about this incident or has home security cameras in or near the area is asked to call Detective Sergeant W. Andorfer (804) 646-8146 or contact Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or reach out online at www.7801000.com.  The P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app for smartphones may also be used. All Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
