RICHMOND, Va. -- Wednesday will be the hottest day of the year so far. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 90s, and the humidity will make it feel near or above 100°. Richmond International Airport set a new record low of 71° this morning (the previous record was 70° in 2012), and today’s record high is 98° from 1941.

A few scattered storms will be possible this afternoon and evening, with the highest chance of storms being across northern Virginia. Storms that do develop will have the potential for hail and strong gusts.

It will stay warm and humid overnight with lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Thursday will be another hot and humid day with highs in the mid to upper 90s. A few isolated storms will be possible.

A cold front will move through Thursday night into Friday, and this will drop temperatures and humidity levels. Highs will be 85° to 90°, and there is the slight chance of a thunderstorm.

The chances for storms will increase this weekend, but they will be widely scattered. It will be slightly humid with highs in the mid 80s.

A stronger cold front will bring cooler and less humid weather early next week. Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
