Police: Man who shot into neighborhood was having mental health crisis

RICHMOND, Va. — No injuries were reported after a man shot a handgun in Henrico Friday afternoon while having a mental health crisis.

Around 4:40 p.m., Henrico Police responded to a report of a man shooting a handgun in the 2800 block of Eagle Trace Terrace in central Henrico.

Officers arrived and located a man who was experiencing a mental health crisis, and who had in fact fired a handgun in the neighborhood.

There are no injuries or reported property damage.

The individual was placed under an Emergency Custody Order and will be transported to a local Crisis Receiving Center for further evaluation
