RICHMOND, Va. -- A "threat of violence" toward Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond was determined to be unfounded, according to Richmond Police.

Police said they investigated the security concern Thursday night, and quickly made that determination. However, they said additional security was on campus Friday out of an abundance of caution.

Lisa Athey has a daughter who is a Freshman at Thomas Jefferson High School. Athey said she received a phone call from the school Thursday evening regarding that concern.

"It had me feeling like I don't think I'm sending my daughter to school tomorrow," said Athey. "...Very concerned because it's been a lot going on at schools and colleges and everything."

However, several hours later Athey said she received another call from the school.

"We did get a second call from the school saying it was okay for all the students -- and they were looking forward to the students being here this morning," Athey said.

Athey said that second phone call, and prayer, left her feeling confident enough to drop her daughter off at school Friday morning.

"She loves it here. So it was unsettling, but at the same time, I knew everything would be okay," Athey said. "I'm feeling great. Prayed up. Know that God has it all under his control and my daughter's alright.
