RICHMOND, Va. — April’s final day was a warm one with highs in the mid to upper 80s.  It was a warm finish to what was a very warm month.

More than three-quarters of the days in the month had highs above normal.

When you add up all of the daily high and low temperatures, then take the average, this month works out to 62.2°, which is four degrees above normal.

This makes it the fourth warmest April on record.  It missed tying 2010 by 0.03°.

The initial outlook for May shows a decent chance of the month being above average as well.
