RICHMOND, Va. -- Police were called to Richmond's Bryan Park after someone spray-painted swastikas and racist slurs on signs and buildings on the final day of Passover.

Detectives believe the vandalism occurred overnight or in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"The department takes vandalism seriously," a Richmond Police spokesperson said. "And we remind everyone that damage of $1,000 or more can result in a felony charge."

Department of Public Works crews were working to remove the vandalism at last check Saturday afternoon.

Passover, one of the holiest Jewish celebrations of the year, ended Saturday.
