CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Students at Elizabeth Davis Middle School have returned to the Chester school after they were safely evacuated following a threat Wednesday morning.

Principal Ed Maynes wrote in a message to parents that students and staffers were temporarily relocated to Scott Elementary while Chesterfield Police conducted a safety sweep at the school.

"As we moved all students and staff to Scott ES, Chesterfield Police investigated, searched Davis MS and determined there was not a credible threat," Maynes  said. "Chesterfield Police have said that we can return to our building and there will be additional police at school this afternoon and tomorrow just as a precaution.”

If you would like to pickup your child early, you may do so, the principal added.

The Chesterfield Police activity page indicated the incident in question was a bomb threat.

Chesterfield Police Lt. Gary McGregor said the phone threat was received at about 10 a.m.
