CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- One driver was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the 6600 block of Hull Street Road (Route 360) and East Chippenham Parkway (Route 150) early Tuesday morning.
"A 2006 Honda Pilot was turning left from westbound Hull Street Road to head south on Chippenham Parkway when it was struck by a 2005 Jaguar traveling east on Hull Street Road," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "As a result of this collision, the Jaguar struck a 2014 Subaru Outback and the Honda Pilot struck a 1992 Jeep Cherokee before coming to rest on its side. The driver of the Honda Pilot, William Colocho, 54, of Colonial Heights, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased."
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was transported a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Jaguar was transported to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Chesterfield Police says there have been 22 crashes at the intersection in the past 12 months. They said 14 were similar to the Tuesday morning collision, seven rear-end collisions, and one head-on collision. There has been a total of 12 injuries in those crashes.
CBS 6 has learned VDOT engineers monitor crashes and they will determine what, if any changes may be warranted at the intersection.
Some drivers who pass through the intersection daily tell CBS 6 they believe changes need to be made to the area, including better lighting and traffic signals.
