RICHMOND, Va. — A man arrested for robbing the South State bank on Three Chopt Road and Patterson Avenue may be connected to numerous crimes, according to Richmond Police.

Peonte S. Spencer, 38, of Wright Avenue, and Sharhonda D. Lee, 36, also of Wright Avenue, were arrested shortly after the bank robbery, during a traffic stop at Lombardy and Leigh streets.

“Detectives believe Spencer is also responsible for several crimes in Richmond earlier this year, including a commercial robbery in April, a bank robbery in April, a bank robbery in June, and a commercial robbery earlier this month,” a Richmond Police spokesperson said. “After consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, detectives have handed Spencer and the investigations over to the FBI for prosecution.”

Lee was charged with weapons violations. Police have not yet released the couple’s mugshots.

No one was hurt in the Tuesday morning bank robbery.
