Florence brings flooding, tornado threats to Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. -- Rain with embedded thunderstorms will be with us on and off today and tonight.  With the availability of wind shear through parts of the region we are watching for the potential of rotating thunderstorms that can spawn weak tornadoes.   The high today will be in the lower 80s.  Tonight will fall into the lower 70s.  Showers will turn more scattered and gradually diminish on Tuesday, as the remnants of Florence move into the Northeast.  Highs will be in the mid 80s.

Wednesday through Friday will be dry with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.  A front will approach the region next weekend, possibly triggering a few showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday.
