DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash, in the northbound lanes near mile marker 54.4, was reported at 10:48 a.m.
"A 2004 Chrysler sedan, driven by, David M. Mack. of Mechanicsville, Va., was traveling northbound on I-85 when he ran off road right, striking a concrete colvert, and turning the vehicle onto its side. The vehicle then struck a guardrail, rolling the vehicle down an embankment, and into several trees," a Virginia State Police spokesperson said. "David Mack and a front seat passenger, identified as, Elizabeth Crawford Mack, 71, of Mechanicsville, Va., were wearing their seat belts. Mr. Mack was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Unfortunately, Elizabeth C. Mack, succumbed to her injuries at the scene."
Charges are pending the outcome of am investigation into this crash.
