Police identify victims in Hopewell double murder

HOPEWELL, Va. -- Police are investigating a double murder at a Hopewell apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Ruth Harris Way after two men were found dead inside of a residence.

Sources tell CBS 6 that a woman came home to her apartment Tuesday afternoon and found two men dead. There is no word on that woman’s relationship to the two men. Those sources said the shooting is believed to have occured earlier in the day.

“Based on evidence discovered at the scene, members of the Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit subsequently initiated a homicide investigation,” according to a police spokesperson.

Jon Burkett reports that one victim’s father confirmed that his son and his nephew were shot to death.

Police have identified the victims as Joseph Darnell Wooden, 31, and Alexander Allen III, 23, both of the City of Hopewell. Crime Insider sources said both men were shot in the head.
