PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. -- Zoe, the tracking K9 with the Dinwiddie Sheriff's Office reported missing in Prince George County, has been found safe.
The bloodhound's handler -- Dinwiddie Sheriff's Deputy Zach Hare -- said the dog ran after a deer it spotted near the deputy's Prince George home at about 4:30 p.m. Monday.
She was found Tuesday morning, sleeping near a neighbor's deer food plot, about a mile from the deputy's home.
About a dozen people searched for Zoe since she ran off Monday.
"I would thank all the citizens who came out to help and shared her picture on social media," Deputy Hare said.
Zoe is trained to find missing people, track down suspects, and uncover evidence in criminal cases.
She also has a home at Sutherland Elementary School in Dinwiddie were Deputy Hare serves as a school resource officer.
