HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- One lane has reopened after a gas leak closed Darbytown Road, near Acton Street, in eastern Henrico early Tuesday morning.

"One lane of Darbytown Road between Buckner Street and Acton Street is now open," Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Garrett said. "Gas line repairs are still being completed and motorists are advised to use caution in the area and expect delays due to alternating traffic."

Firefighters responded to the gas leak at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews smelled gas once they arrived to the 1600 Darbytown Road and found a hole in the ground where the gas was escaping.

It took crews about 90 minutes to find the valve and shut off the gas.
