ROANOKE — Police in Roanoke, Virginia, have arrested a man suspected of throwing a brick into a window at US Democratic Sen. Mark Warner’s regional office in the area, according to the Roanoke City Police Department.
Police arrested 36-year-old James W. Trainor on Monday and charged him with felony property damage.
Police were called to downtown Roanoke around 7:30 a.m. ET after reports of a man walking around the area carrying bricks, according to CNN affiliate WSLS. They discovered the damage to Warner’s office shortly afterward.
According to Warner’s team the office had yet to open and no one was injured in the attack.
“This morning prior to 8 a.m., an individual threw a brick through the front office window of Sen. Warner’s Roanoke office,” Rachel Cohen, Warner’s communications director, told CNN. “Thankfully due to the early hour no one was in the office at the time.”
At this point police have not determined a motive behind the attack.
“Senator Warner is extremely grateful for the quick and professional response of the Roanoke Police Department, which is investigating,” Cohen said. Warner’s office said that Capitol Police have been in touch with Roanoke police.
